If you never heard of the Fjordling 17 and 18: The Fjordling 17 is a boat produced in norway by Fjord Boats from 1962 to 1970 to be modified and updated to the Fjordling 18. The constructor behind this amazing little pocket rocket, was Norways infamous Jan Herman Linge. One of the more productive boat constructors in the world, including two Olympic Games sail classes (Soling & Yngling), responsible for around 1000 hull designs. The boat has a sharp and excellent V-hull that was originally created to be powered by 30-50 hp outboards. However people quickly found that the hull could handle so much more. Today, people put up to 500 HP outboard engines and even a LS3 mounted inboard solution, achieving 83+ knots, at the back of these things! There is a so called "water tunnel" in the bottom of the hull that fills with 200 liters (53 gallons) of water when the boat goes out of plane. This is to increase stability when the boat is in lower speeds or when not moving. The concept was patented by the designer, Jan Hermann Linge and was only used on some of his designs. The boat was mostly sold in Norway and Sweden but there's also some scattered around other parts of Europe. There is a lot of story behind this boat and in Norway and Sweden we have a pretty big Fjordling Community.
